快速動眼期(Rapid Eye Movement,REM)


此次是第一次和外國學生進行設計案。第一天聆聽各校的簡報,其內容介紹學校特色、研究室的設計案或是學生自己的作品,感受以「英文」進行專業簡報的表現,讓人心胸更加寬廣,瞭解學問並不是躲在象牙塔裡的事,而是同時在全球各地都有競爭者,此種體驗實可做為增進全球化思考的燃煤。

進行設計案時,與另一位台灣學生和韓國Kaist的學生同組,雖然使用英文溝通,有些微的溝通隔閡,但對於想法的傳遞並無太大問題。而對於文化差異的交流,或許由於設計案的緊迫,使得心思難以分心,對於彼此生活型態的交流著墨並不深,也未參與到其它人晚上的戶外活動。唯有在設計案進行時,深刻體會不同學校的教育風格,對於設計案的進行,專案管理的形式有很大的不同,當對於設計流程有足夠的掌握程度時,就容易在短暫的時間內完成設計案,這也就是本次活動最大的收獲。

雖然活動之間仍有茶會時間,提供學生彼此交流的機會,但仍無法和大部份的海外學生或是它校學生進行互動,或許是更需要主動的攀談才能改進此種狀況。反而是在活動結束的當天,大家在榕園裡一起玩飛盤,藉此互動效果極佳的活動增進彼此的情感。

My dear friends,
 
On May 13 we met each other, coming from different school and country. Then we have five days together during International Design Forum until May 17. Besides the unforgettable trip to National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium, there I was fascinated by elegant penguins, the interaction in workshop benefited me a lot. Every discussion combined us closer and let me know more about each other's thinking.
 
Though the forum ended and each of us came back to original place, continuing to learn more about design and defining what design will be. In my mind, we are still close to each other by promotion better life in our world.
 
This week, when I passed the banyan tree, the shadow of frisbee seemed to be there up and down. It reminded me that we have been together playing frisbee and try to catch each other's thinking.
